Ground Notes

How we plan Zhangjiajie

What we arrange

We stay in Wulingyuan for early park starts, time cable cars and elevators to stay ahead of queues, and plan an easier version of each day for older travellers. Three nights is right.

Getting there

Flights from Shanghai take about 2.5 hours. High-speed trains to Chongqing take about 2–3 hours.

When to go

April–May and September–October. Early summer is misty and wet; winter is cold and some walkways close in ice.

Halal, veg and Jain

Thinner than in the big cities. We fix halal, vegetarian and Jain restaurants before quoting and use the hotel kitchen where needed.

FAQ

Questions about Zhangjiajie

Where should clients stay?

Wulingyuan, at the main park gate. Staying in Zhangjiajie city adds a long drive to every park day.

Is it suitable for elderly travellers?

Yes. The main viewpoints are reached by bus, elevator and cable car, and we keep walks short and flat.
