Shanghai for travel agents
Shanghai destination guide for agents: the Bund, Pudong, Yu Garden, water towns and Suzhou day trips, theme-park days and rail links to Beijing.
What to sell in Shanghai
The Bund
Colonial-era waterfront facing the Pudong skyline; mornings for photographs, evenings for the lights.
Yu Garden and the old town
Classical garden and the lanes around it; go early.
Pudong observation decks
Shanghai Tower and the surrounding towers for the high view.
Water towns
Zhujiajiao is about an hour away by road; canals and stone bridges.
Suzhou
Classical gardens, about 30 minutes away by high-speed train.
How we plan Shanghai
What we arrange
We use Shanghai as the start or end of most routes, plan theme-park and acrobatics tickets by date, and arrange Suzhou or water-town days by train or private vehicle. Three nights is the usual length.
Getting there
Pudong (PVG) for most international flights, about 45–60 minutes from the centre; Hongqiao (SHA) for domestic flights and the high-speed rail hub. Beijing is about 4.5–6 hours by high-speed train.
When to go
Spring and autumn are best. June brings the plum rains; July–August are hot and humid.
Halal, veg and Jain
Halal restaurants are available across the city, including Hui and Xinjiang-style restaurants. Vegetarian dining is easy.

Questions about Shanghai
Is Shanghai a good place to exit on a 240-hour transit?
Yes. Pudong has frequent flights to Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia, which makes the third-country exit easy.
Suzhou or a water town?
Suzhou for classical gardens and a city feel; Zhujiajiao for canals and a village atmosphere. Both are half-day to full-day trips.
